Vancouver Burglars didn’t fare much better than anyone else in the snow…

Click on the images below to check out the difference in residential burglaries (reported to the VPD) in Vancouver between the weeks of December 10th through 16th compared to the 17th through 23rd… Unlike most years when burglaries tend to increase towards Christmas and peak in January, there were 71% fewer residential burglaries during the first week of snow in Vancouver.

That being said, the water related insurance claims would have been much, much higher. We responded to nearly two dozen alarms where flooding was either detected by a water sensor or the cause of a burglary signal to be sent.

Stolen vehicle statistics didn’t follow the same trend on the Westside however… during the week of the 10th through 16th there were five(5) stolen vehicles reported on the Westside and during the following snow week, eight (8).
