Our World Class Monitoring Station... the OC

After nearly 2 years of research into the latest and most sophisticated central monitoring station technlogies, Provident's Operations Centre (the "OC") was designed to incorporate the most sophisticated alarm monitoring, communications equipment, redundancy and disaster planning available.

At a cost of more than $1 Million dollars, Provident's OC runs a fully redundant network and monitoring systems that have no single point of failure. Literally every device in the OC has a real time clone, working side by side in the event that one fails, there is no downtime. A huge bank of back-up batteries as well as a diesel generator with several days worth of fuel ensure that we can operate without any reliance on outside power indefinately.

Capable of monitoring client's alarms over standard telephone lines, cellular back-up, the internet and even BLINK mesh radio, Provident is on the cutting edge of monitorng and communications technology.

Disaster Plans...

In the event of a complete disaster, we maintain a real-time link to a set of back-up servers in another location... in another time zone. This allows us to quickly get back up and running in the event that our primary OC was completely destroyed.

A long history of technological innovation..

Provident has always been on the forefront of utilizing new technology. In 1997, we were the first company in Canada to use wireless reporting through a custom built application on the original PalmPilot. In fact, much of the extensive media exposure that Provident has received has been for innovative uses of technology, whether for tracking grafitti, communicating internally, monitoring alarms or using GPS.
