One of the key points of the clip is the fact that the value of a monitored alarm system can only be realized after you’ve already taken a number of simple physical security measures such as locking your gates, installing double sided locks and five minute proofing.

The mistake that a lot of people make is thinking that home security is as simple as finding the cheapest alarm provider they can find and assuming that that’ll be enough.

I was interviewed for a story about home security… and specifically about how to prevent becoming the victim of a burglary… for Living Vancouver on CBC.

The segment will air today on Channel 3 at 3:00pm… It will also be available on Living Vancouver’s website

The clip below is from a seminar that Cst. Ray Gardner of the VPD and I did at the Arbutus Club back in April… in the clip, I’m talking about protecting your protection and why you need to have muliple levels of redundancy in order to maximize security. Specifically, we talk about the reliance of most alarms on telephone lines and what you can do to eliminate that risk.

Provident was recognized for having the best website in the security industry…

Provident was one of only seven companies recognized in this year’s SAMMY awards which are open to every security company in North America. Provident, along with Securtek, were the only two Canadian firms awarded SAMMY’s this year.

On April 1st, Security Sales & Integration Magazine hosted the 13th Annual SAMMY Awards at the International Security Conference in Las Vegas.

Provident won the SAMMY for Best Website.

This was the 6th time that Provident has been nominated, and the 2nd time that we have won a SAMMY. Provident was one of only two Canadian security companies to be awarded.

Our website was designed by Jeff Joseph and took many months of design, planning and filming. We were so pleased with Jeff that we hired him on full-time to join our web development team… where he is working hard along with Ryan and Jerry to ensure that Provident’s IT systems and web development are always getting better.

Jeff did an incredible job (and still is) on the site and we are very proud to have him on the team. Jeff is standing in the middle of the back row in the picture on the right.
